Topic: Active Listening

When we think about being a good communicator, many things come to mind. Developing a professional presence, crafting a message, and using visual aids are often the focus of what we consider good communication. But what about being a good listener? Listening to an audience is an important element of the communication process. At times it may be even more important than talking. But how often do people really listen? Are we actively involved in getting the information that needs to be expressed, assessing the emotions of the speaker, and providing feedback that facilitates open and honest communication? These are important issues for everyone who works with clients, vendors, and others both inside and outside of the corporate world.

In this presentation, we will talk about the steps to develop better listening skills. This means examining nonverbal communication, getting to the heart of what the audience wants to communication, and navigating the roadblocks that often stop good communication in its tracks. As part of the seminar, we will also go through a series of interactive exercises that helps you to develop those skills.
